I've been reading on LE and someone mentioned using  charcoal in their kiln.  What for? Is it something to do with silver glass, just curious! :)

It gives your kiln a more reducing atmosphere which you sometimes want when working with silver glass ;)

And testing your carbon monoxide alarm works when you use far too much  :o  ::)  [had to be the charcoal, givces of Carbon Monoxide when burnt and nothing else is triggering it].

One of my neigbours commented yesterday that my 'smoke alarm' was going off in my 'shed' for hours the other night - looked astonished when I asked why he didn't then come round and check we were all right?

Ah now i understand - i don't work much with silver glass, but good to know!  Re the neighbours you'd think he'd want to get out of bed and at least look in case there was a fire!

Is a very aged hippy.  I suspect he was too inebriated by drink or drugs to actually get out of bed.  But if he could hear it so could 2 other neighbours, you'd have thought someone woulod have said?  Fortunately SH heard it when he went into the kitchen.
