I remember a similar post a little while ago but cannot find it!

My cricket has suddenly started 'breathing' it runs o.k for a while then will suddenly 'flare' for a few seconds as if the propane has been turned up a little. It will then settle back and run O.k for a few minutes then flare again.
Eric the oxycon seems to be running normally.
I have a flashback arrestor in the propane line
Any ideas anyone

Have you cleaned out all his holes using the little wire you got with him?

Lush!

When this happens to me it seems to signal low propane or a low oxygen - but as its a Cricket, do also do as Helen suggested, as well as checking there's no obvious bits of soot that need knocking off the face of the torch.

This happened with my bobcat but it was the oxycon, the little ball was bouncing, can you watch to see what's happening with that.

Madam Steph

It will be the soot, prolly.
I often have to stop after a couple of hours and clean the holes.
I also make it part of my routine to clean after each session

Thanks Ladies.
Have been and poked all his little holes out as suggested :o :o
Now seems to be running quite happily.
After 2 years on a hothead which never seemed to need cleaning it did'nt occur to me that routine tlc would be needed!

Yep, the Cricket gets sooty.  You will actually see the soot build up on the face of the torch as you work.

Just give him a little poke with the proddy thing every so often and all will be well!
