Problem annealing silver glass

Make a transparent one and test the schedule with that. My bead door is always shut too, but the kiln is definitely cooler near the door

Because I use LOADS of silver glass everytime I torch, I garage at 480 and then ramp up to 500 at the end of torching, hold this for an hour and then ramp down.

As a result I have never found any of my silver glass colours going dull. Worth a try?

They all look very beautiful. I haven't had much luck with Helios, but ok with the others. I Need to try harder!

probably a silly question, but is it better to anneal as you go with silver glass or does it not make much difference?
I usually do a few beads here and there during the week and then anneal a batch when there is enough to make it worth while. I am starting to have a play with silver glass so will it make a difference to the outcome?

Interesting thread. I did a big batch of beads yesterday and my DH ones have lost most of (but not all) their shine and some made with effetre purple (272) have developed a golden sheen around the hole ends (that wasn't there when I put them in the kiln). The kiln is set at 520 for garaging and when I put it to the hour hold it goes up for a bit to 530 and then back down to 520. I was meaning to ask Lee about this (it's a maxi), so might give him a ring on Monday and work out how to drop the temp to see if this makes a difference. I think he told me that the edges of the kiln were cooler than the middle so might try to keep my DH glass and this purple at the edges? The purple beads are sort of pretty but it wasn't the effect I wanted, there are 5 of them for an order, think she might have to have them etched!

I also did a big batch yesterday, and the ones with DH Helios on the surface are not as shiny as they were when they went in.

I used a lower temp and charcoal, but it hasnt helped.

I think I will not batch anneal surface decorated DH glass ones anymore!
