I have been commissioned to make a 40mm glossy red heart.

Making the heart itself isn't the problem but when its cool you can see all of the markings where the glass was added.  I'm using effetre dark red.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best red for the least marks?

Lush!

I'd suggest a transparent red which should strike nice a deep after working for a while.

I second Julie - personally I just LOVE cim sangria, it's the most beautiful true red.

Lush!

I love Sangre too but a lot of people struggle to keep it bright, especially on such a large piece - you might find it goes kinda brown which can be frustrating.

I think the brown might be over striking? Maybe work it really hot to get it clear and then go for an overall strike at the end?

I had the same trouble when making red chillis and ended up putting red enamels over the top - looks great!

This is Effetre striking transparent red (not sure of the code, as I am lazy labelling my rods :-[)  but I love it - gives such a glorious see through ruby red - looks amazing in the sun!

Its an absolutely gorgeous red... just need to make sure that you cool it well after first heating cycle and then strike it about 4 times.
