What cleans up epoxy glue? Help.

Unlike Dean whose rivets don't fit his BHBs, I've made mine with Manda's 5mm mandrels single dipped and the holes are larger than the rivets I've bought - some from Palmers and some from All beads 4 you (checked I had bought the right size). I'm thinking that when I glue the rivets in they might move until the glue sets and I'll end up with some stray epoxy so what's the best thing for removing it either when wet or dry. I think someone mentioned rubbing alcohol a while back but can't find that thread now, and anyway, what is the UK equivalent? Surgical spirit?

I would be tempted to say nail varnish remover, as I recall it can get through epoxy but never tested it against lampwork beads or anything other than "white metal" (composite lead free) so unless anyone has tested it I wouldn't dare, unless you have some scraps to test one.

let it dry and carefully scrape it off with a blade.

The trick to epoxy glue is to use much less than you think - it needs a bit of air between the rivet and glass in order to cure - not a huge blob of glue.

I put mine on with a cocktail stick, and very sparingly.

I would say razor blade too, once it is set it should just cut/scrape off the smooth surfaces.

Methelated Spirit disolves soft epoxy and is great for cleening sticky hands

Even with a cocktail stick I can make a mess - and the expensive Scotch stuff I bought from Warm Glass oozes more than Araldite. Meths & nail polish remover I have and probably lighter fluid left over from some other project I think. Will test all and report back!

it might sound obvious but i do one end let it set ..then do the other ....that way you are only trying to get one rivet at a time in the right place
