anyone ever tried this? does it work? do you need a special cutting wheel for the cutter?

Stacy

I did try this once but the results were awful. Great big chunks of glass out of the side of the cut and the like.
However, I didn't use a special blade so that might be the key!

Yes it does work. BUT the cut is thicker than dedicated glass saws so more waste and you have to be rather carefull to keep a straight line as a slight deviation will tend to crack the glass were you don't want it to. I've been cutting beer bottles in half ,verticaly, and the results are variable but provided that I can keep up with the boozing I'll get enough half bottles for my next "project"  ;D.

Lots of water needed I've rigged up a mains supply to give adequate cooling. Don't tell the water board !!!

P.S. must be a contiuouse rim blade not those notched ones for cutting tiles.
