I've never been one for writting, as you have already witnessed, even with spell check (yes I did spell check yesterdays ramblings, but for some reason stopped half way through, aah, yes, the husband creature wanted his turn on the much coverted PC, (he's rehearsing for an exam, no his not an actor, he's an Electrician, so i guess it's revising)

Some of you expressed an intrest in my shenanigans and went to the length of expressing a blog, yes well let me see, where it is may be a good idea, I'll stick with limited exposeore of numptyness here for time being.  I did contemplate a face book and flicker humiliation but decided on a Frit - Happens, in front of the worlds finest lampworkers, at least I may get a sympathy vote!!!

Now then, where to start on yesterdays, STEAP, learning circle:

I had taken a brief look at the gallery on here, though i new it would do one of 2 things;

A) empower, em-spire, and endeavor (that was inspector Morse's real name, now come along, how many of you new that! John Thore, loved him, Lewis is good though, but the new [/i]Sherlock Holmes, Whot a liberty! Benedict Cumberbatch what a sausage, Yummy.

where was i, yes B) demoralise, decapitate, and destroy, any thoughts of being a lampworker.

but it did three things, it gave me an idea.  =  Clear orange base bead with opaque orange flower encased in more CLEAR orange?, for my brother -in-law Napoleon, who was/is into Johnny Lydon and Devo, Johnny used to have bright orange hair, back in those 80 ol' days i used to die Naps hair bright orange - it's true, he is a computer geek, that's Napoleon, he used to be called Patrick

You know those rods you get in your starter kit, that are of a clear nature but express that they are, Red, Orange, Yellow and Pink?  their clear right?

At no point on their label do they say; " i look clear now, yes i now i look extremely like the other clear colours, but when you burn the arse off me, i turn, REAL orange, not just this shimmy shammy look a bit like orange BUT the realist fandango deep Tuscan roof ORANGE........................

so, got up eager to see my attempt at a, ahem, flowerish encased orange bead;

Have a good laugh  , it's good for the soul, i need a good laugh, i've got the out-law coming over in no less than 2.5 hours, for 7 hours of ear and brain distorting incessant LOUD (because he used to be an army Sargent) none life enhancing chatter.................................

But yes they go lovely colours, just not the paler version you were after. Well done.

Hey, you got the orange to strike!  Well done - that's a thing that some people have big problem with when they first start out.  You are doing great - keep going!

Fantastic newbie beads and I love your enthusiasm.

You've discovered striking and as Helen said managed to make it happen. It took some of us ages to get that to work 

Are any of your rods labelled? If not you can identify a striker by heating the end of the rod, allowing it to cool and then gently reheating to look for the colour change. I try to strike the end of a rod and let it cool so that it shows the colour change before I put it away so that I remember its a striker when I use it again.

i think you will find that the bead on a stick is actually a cake poke or a sqewer ...or a knitting counter .....or a decourative plant tie stick ...or a ...........the possibillities are endless

Yep, mine too.    What I would have given to be able to produce a whole row of beads of that shape, they are brilliant.  Mind you, I still occasionally turn out chewing gum onna stick    And pointy ends that could be used as a lethal weapon.
