Annealing schedule for silver glass

i have a question that has been puzzling me re the schedule for silver glass and how people adapt this to their lampworking sessions.  If silver glass needs to be garaged at 487C  and annealed at 493C  does this mean that you can only make silver glass beads in that session.  I would normally want to make a mix of non silver glass beads( say effetre/vetrofond)  and beads containing elements of silver glass in the same session.  But how would the lower temps effect the stability of the effetre beads.  What do most people do,

I don't do anything different to my normal garaging/batch annealing schedule when I use silver glass.

Thanks Kaz, i've been looking on LWE and they say garage lower and anneal longer.  I know Astrid garages at 400C and anneals at 475C..... that's what confused me!  Guess i'll try it all ways and keep fingers crossed   Not having much luck in consistent results (in fact mostly yukky!)  but i'll keep trying

yeah, I just leave it at what I normally use, which is a bit on the high side by most peoples standards perhaps, but what do I care? Pandora works in it!

I tried setting my kiln about 10 degrees lower on all aspects of the programme because I thought my normal programme was not working for silver glass. Turned out the problem was something else entriely so now I anneal silver glass along with all the rest on my normal programme.

I think Trudi uses a different programme, so might be worth asking her.

I garage in my SC3 at 500 and anneal at 510 and have started holding for an hour instead of 30 minutes - don't know if that does anything, but I think someone advised it .  My kiln reads a higher temperature than it should when switched on though...

It's basically a lower temp for longer - I read it on another forum (may have been torch bugs???). I tried it as others were raving about it  - but it really made no difference ........ to me anyway.

Some silver glass my be more sensitive - Taxco for example is, but a way to overcome that is to make these beads towards the end of your torching session.

I garage at 500°C and anneal at 520°C as standard - if I'm working on kiln striking glass (Nyx or Pandora) or glass like Halong Bay or Peacock - I increase the annealing temp to 545°C. I have also tested some opaques at this temp (white, fossil & ivory) and these have came out just fine!

Sometimes if you're finding that your reduction or effects from silver glass are not coming out right it could be due to the "atmosphere" in your kiln. I've not had this problem but if you search on the threads (or wiki?) you may find some info re activated charcoal.
