Not absolutely sure but I ordered straw yellow and accepted what they sent me, any mistakes are on their part if it is wrong

Sometimes glass does vary from batch to batch. I have some Rubino that really goes very brown when heated more than a little. It's still Rubino - just doesn't work the way I want it too!

I do have light trans brown and that does work with the iris gold - but I think that the usual straw yellow is actually a better colour for Faux Boro. I find it very hard to tell the difference between straw yellow and light trans brown in fact.
Thing is - it's such a crappy colour that I can't see myself using it for anything else!

I checked the codes on the glass and all is well. It is straw yellow.
Please do ring if you need to talk about any of the glass I have sent out. I do like to know if something is not right.

Well Em, I hesitated to get in touch because I thought it was just me. Thought I'd check to see if anyone else was having a problem. Thing is - as a supplier, you've just sold the glass as it is supplied to you. The possibility that Effetre may have changed the mix - in the same way that Rubino changes from batch to batch is not your problem, so to speak.

Don't know really what to say - the Straw Yellow that I've got a couple of weeks ago  certainly doesn't act in the same way that my previous batch does, but apparently is Straw Yellow. Dunno........  :-\

Um........er........don't laugh, but I think I may have got some light amber in my straw yellow pigeon hole as had another go today and got good results  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Leave it with me Sal :) I'll have a looksie in the glass barn and see if we have two different batches anywhere. Don't get your hopes up cuz I'm sure we are on the last bundle, but hey...you never know ;D

Cheers matey,
Heh -  made some this afternoon with different mixes of straw yellow/iris gold - really disappointed when they came out of the kiln, so if anyone wants a bunch of brown beads......?  ;)

hollergrafik

Sal are yours coming out as dark as dark topaz? like an almost cola colour?

Redhotsal

Hi Kay, yes they are.
Just to emphasise - this is NOT a thread to criticise Tuffnells at all, but I just wanted to know of anyone else was having a problem or whether it was just me. Obviously isn't.

I'll keep a note of this, since I got some straw yellow at the start of the year. If it doesn't behave as expected when I can use it, I'll have some idea why! (Not fussed otherwise, I only got a 1/4 kg).

Dragonfire Glass

Use it as the next challenge   ;)

I didnt buy much either, deffo not a Tuuffnells prob just a batch to batch problem.

Hmmm I melted some this morning. made beads using straw and iris yellow frit and they came out a sea green/blue colour, with hints of pinky/yellow. No real sign of the cola colour but then I could be doing it wrong???  I did a blob of straw yellow, dipped in frit and then made a bead with it and encased. Am I getting the wrong end of the stick(mandrel ;)). Let me know if you want me to try something else.
