Painting with frit

Can someone advise me how I paint with frit please?  I've heard this technique mentioned a few times and I can't find any tut's on how to do it.  I suspect it's making a striger out of frit and pinting the stringer on but i'm not sure.  Any help would be most appreciated.

i've been wondering the same - I often dip a warm rod in frit and melt it in before painting it on the bead so wonder if that's it

Janey, don't forget that Val's frits are COE 96.

Can I use them with standard 104 Effetre and CIM?

Yes you can, but they must make up only 5-10% of the glass in the bead, use much more and you could get compatibility problems. Some frits are more forgiving than others ( depends on the lead content I think), and a lot of Val's are rich saturated colours so you should always use less than you think

Jaq is it possible to get compatibility problems with the 96 clear you are selling and val's frits? i did the frit painting technique using silver lake and riverdance and a rod of your clear. Out of 6 beads, 2 cracked after cooling, and a further 2 cracked in the kiln. All my other beads are fine. used the frit over some cim and effetre (about 5%) and not probs, just the encased ones. I know i didn't mix up the clears as yours are labelled Not sure if i'm doing something wrong but don't often have beads crack on me.

phew, i'm glad it's not just me!! I never have beads crack, I feel like i've wasted precious glass and frit now
