I've just purchased one of these and read the previous posts but still can't see how to connect a cable and plug :-[   I can't see any + or - marks just a small box attached to side with one small rubber edged hole.......   Do i unscrew this box and go from there?  Sorry to seem so dim but wiring a plug is about my electrics capability!     Also how do the rest of you set this up, it will be on the floor under my worktop .  I've no idea if should i rest it on something, put it in a box, insulate it , just set it on its side and on and on , any words of wisdom desparately needed and appreciated :) :)

I think the terminals should be inside that box, yes. My Vents VK fan actually arrived pre-wired by the people I got it from, but that's where the plug's attached to.

(If only they'd actually sent me the fan I ordered I'd be a lot happier with them!  >:()

Many thanks Heather i'll have a look inside!   Do you rest your fan on anything to stabilise it or reduce the noise?

The connection terminals should be inside the little box on the side of the Rvk.
To reduce the noise from my 8inch fan I built a plywood box around the fan and stuffed it full of foam peanuts, old sleeping bags or a jacket would do the same thing, ensure there's no edges or loose 'peanuts' that can be pulled into the fan or your looking at trouble!
The box itself could also be used to give a good stable surface for it to rest on.

I also Run my fan on a speed controller box, so its down low when im working 104 and up to full speed when I'm fuming or working boro.

The simple answer to noise is to turn your music up louder!

This forum is great for all the tips! I didn't use a ply box but   I found an old  open topped plastic storage box, cut out a big hole on 2 sides and stuffed it it with an old  cut down duvet, it works a treat!  Holds the 6" Rvk off the floor and steady and deadens the noise a bit!   :)
