Hello all

I have been using silver foil (encased) in some of my beads, but it keeps going gold! I don't want it to be gold - I want it to stay silver!

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

Helen

Hi Helen,

What clear are you using? Lauscha and to a certain degree Vetrofond have been found to make the silver foil go gold, whereas Effetre let it stay silver coloured. Whether it has changed with newer version os the various brands I do not know.

Some artists work around this problem by encasing silver with a very, very light blue/aqua.

Corina Tettinger did a test on different types of clear, and showed the reactions when encasing over silver, you can read about it here:

Wow, thanks for that, its really helpful.  I have been using Lauscha, and before that Vetrofond.

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy some more Effetre!!!!
