Propane hose. How long can it be?

Hi peeps!  where is the sun gone???

Right, could someone please tell me if the hose coming from the propane tank to my torch can be say be, 4-5 metres long and travel upwards? I plan to get a big propabe bottle as maybe the pressure of a large can will help???  I'm guessing here.

Reason being is that my outdoor shed is becoming fast a no no and I think I will be setting up in my spare room. Which I should of thought about in the first case as I have all my fusing gear in there anyways.
I was thinking to store the propane tank in the garden below and have a hose going up to the space room through the window. Also rig up my vent hose to go out the window pane. (will have to get a double glazed unit made up  for this)

I really don't want to walk into a propane supplier and ask, then look like a silly woman who just asked a nuts idea I thought I may ask some kind people here, and then get told I'm nuts

A friend of mine torches in an upstairs room, with the propane outside downstairs. She got an extra long hose from Martin.

The only hiccup might be that my friend is on a MiniCC, so she doesn't need the pressure that a HH needs. But I can't see why it wouldn't work fine.

I'm on a minor.

I asked a mate of mine who does welding and aparently propane is under pressure so shouldnt have a problem.

I'm at the moment trying to find a good quality quick release coupling for the hoses, I think I'm going to ask Martin for one as I can find diddly on the net.

Slowly slowly, will get there.

I've got about 2 metres of hose on my Hothead with no problems.
If you need a long hose try a plumbers trade counter or sowehere like B&Q  - plumbers blowlamps work at high gas pressure so the propane hose you get from them is O.K.
Don't be tempted by the stuff in caravan and camping places their gas systemsrun at a lower pressure (32 Millibar I think).

I don't torch at home, but we have no mains gas in the village and my cooker is run on propane and I my kitchen is upstairs and my hosing is about 8 metres long,
But no problems with the cooker don't know how or if that even helps at all.
