Firstly, apologies if this question has been asked to death - I've searched through past posts but can't find any with the same problem.

When I use CiM Sangre I don't get that lovely transparent red that I want - I get transparent orange.
The beads look like a nice, dark ruby red when they go into the kiln (lulling me into a false sense of security and making me thing I've finally cracked it) but when I take them out - transparent orange (albeit a nice transparent orange).
They don't go brown, murky or opaque - but they don't go red.
Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

What torch are you using and what is your kiln set at Lou?

Take a look at this video of Laura Sparlings:

Hi Helen
I'm using a minor and my kiln is set to 520.
Laura's vid is the one I've been using for reference and my beads look the same after striking, so maybe it's the kiln setting...
It's weird, because I've used sangre before and had success with it (same batch so that can't be the problem). Do you ever find that if you overthink something you end up with worse results than when you were just winging it...? ;)

My SC3 kiln runs hot so I always set it 10 degrees lower: 500 garaging, 510 annealing, 1 hour hold :) (Do a transparent bead to test if it is annealing properly at a lower temperature.)

Wing away :-)

My kiln is set to garage at 500 and I hold for 1hr 15 at 520 as well - might be worth to lower your temp a bit?

Or maybe give Reichenbach garnet red a try, it doesn't change in the kiln in my experience....  ;)

Thanks ladies.
I knocked a few sangres out at the end of my session today so they were in the kiln for less time. The results are certainly better.
I will lower the temp a bit though and I'll definitely try the Reich red.
