Effetra - silver black

As I have said previously I am new at this, I have made a bead out of silver black which looked ok as I was melting it, the resulting bead is awful, dull feels like a ceramic pot. I am guessing that I did something wrong. I am on a hothead and my educated guess is that I have over cooked it and taken all the shine away.  Should I just be using it as shiny dots ?

Do you have any suggestions???

Pretty much what I get - does it do anything else?  Rachel gave a load away because she didn't like it, and can't say as I'm a fan

Aw thats disappointing, I had big ideas for it. I wonder how you get anything decent out of it??

i think Julie lush blogged about silver black...will see if i can find it!
hmmmm must have been imagining it, but i know that silver black very rarely stays "shiny" it usually goes matt and sometimes has a "crinkly" appearance, it is really lovely used in the right way!

Somebody else will be able to give you a much better idea what to do with it - I'm sure loads of people have done wonderful things with this glass.  Just not me!

In my head it was going to be a shiny silver substitute so that I could add very arty spots of silver black on my perfectly formed beads (NOT!!!)
Still I am sure one day it will come in useful when someone commissions me to make a bead that looks like a tar mac road surface!!!

I have read the linked thread and I will give it another go tomorrow, I fancy getting the peacock colours (says she like she knows what she is talking about!!!!) I think I over did it today, I will try the letting it cool trick and see how that goes, I am on a hot head so we'll see.

I love silver black, I find it looks like leather
For shiny black I would go for CIM gunmetal though, if you would like to swap some silver black for gunmetal lizzy then let me know x

I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a good base for a silver glass - or perhaps that was the gunmetal.  Might be worth doing a search?

Love silver black  - shiny one minute, elephant hide the next.  Just use it, abuse it and love it for what it is

I love it too, got some great colours out of it, but it was a bit rough round the holes.
