Ive been  using the glass that came with my kit, but now I need to order some glass, I have enough of black, white, & blue, so what do you think are essentials to have? and what would be a treat? I have a limited budget this month of about £50.

thanks  ;D

Dark ivory is a good one and turquoise.  They're my old favourites. Lilac is good for getting some interesting results in the kiln, and I also love Reichenbach's Pink Lady.  Throw in a bit of effetre clear (the non-streaky kind), maybe some multicolour and a pot of blended frit and the World's your oyster, Bob's your uncle...... ;)

- Oh and CIM glass has some lovely colours too for inspiration - I think Off Mandrel do them per rod?

Kaz

Here's what would be on my shopping list of must-haves (today's list!!!!)
Effetre 006 clear
Triton (or a mixed pack of Triton and Aurae)
CIM Dirty Martini
CIm Zachary
Multicolour Dark
Reichenbach Antique Clear
CIM cranberry
Effetre baby blue
Effetre light teal
Effetre Dark Ivory
Effetre Light Ivory
The Sedona Mixed Pack
Silver Foil/Leaf

She's made of real glass. She got real real emotion. But my heart laughs I have that same sweet devotion!

Well, other than asking what colours you like best, when I started I also got dark turquoise, dark and light ivory and plenty of clear (006). Then I got sample packs - there's a CiM one with a single rod each of some of the CiM colours, Tuffnell's have a Reichenbach mystics pack, and they also have colour-themed packs. I've got the Think Pinks one which has some nice colours in. There are blue and green ones too, but by the time they started having those, I already had some of lots of the blues and greens!

Treats: how about some frit? If you get some iris gold frit and either straw yellow, light brown or pale green apple rods, you can make the faux boro effect - swirly blues and greens and sometimes other colours show up.

Reichenbach dark multicolour is a good one and easy to get nice colours out of. I also love Reichenbach ocean - blue and swirly and glittery!

Silver leaf. Get yourself some silver leaf and you can do all kinds of things, including making silvered ivory.

i think kaz's list is pretty comprehensive but i'd add to it some cim sangre, heffalump, crocus, mermaid, and then some reichenbach mystics (the mystics pack is a good place to start), make sure you only get efftre crystal clear 006, reichenback pearl colours are amazing esp pearl  and pearl pink. ooo and if you can splurge to a little opal yellow its a great base for reactions for silver glass. xx

Efftre transparent Amethyst is one I find quite handy for a lot of things.. but then again I'm a bit of a purple fiend!

Sharon: 004 can be nasty and bubbly and scummy. 006 is much better. You could try emailing Martin to see if he's got any/when he'll get more? He had some a fortnight ago...

Definitely wait for 006.  I ended up using all my 004 as a base for other colours.  Definitely agree with all of Kaz's colours, but would add butternut, because it produces fab colours and is really nice to work.  And the pearl colours ARE lovely, especially the pink - I have loads!
