SO having watched people playing with the Boro tubing at Flame Off!  I would love to have a go but obviously if I want colours I am going to have to spend mega cash on Boro supplies!   I may be being completely silly but is there such a thing as a 104coe Tube and does anyone know if I can get it in the UK.  Most of the sites I have found are scientific and look far to technical so I am abit shy about calling so thought I would save myself embarrassment and ask here first.   Franz Art Glass have some but would ideally like a UK supplier if there is such a thing.

Hi Jennie,

I would suggest you talk to Carl Martin. He bought a stash of glass recently second hand which contained some soft glass hollow rod. I'm not sure of the COE though. I could be wrong but I think he was going to sell some.

Plowdens make tubing in their COE's, I have used it before on a neon class and have a stash in the studio to play with.  The other option is to look for other neon tubing suppliers, although this night be lead glass so much softer than soda.

I think Lauscha do it but to be honest - one of the reasons you don't really see it much is because it's probably too floppy to be stiff enough. It would probably keep collapsing on you.

On the other hand you can very easily melt Boro tubing because it isn't solid so you won't need to throw much heat at it anyway - I'd go for boro and just get a sample pack of Glass Alchemy or something if you want colours. Much easier to work with then soft glass.

I bought a tutorial and was told that morettiandmore do it - but given that they're in the US, it might not be the cheapest option.

Clear boro tubing and rod is not expensive. (Colours are though.)
