For my birthday I was given some of the double helix glass by my friends and family. I have been too scared to use it as its so expensive and I don't know what to use it with to get a chance of a result.

I have got khaos, triton, elektra, clio and aion2.

Could anyone tell me what I could use them with to give myself half a chance of some thing nice coming out of the kiln???

I know I am not an expert but if I use them with something they are never going to work with it would be a waste

Thanks

Are you on a Hothead, or duel fuel torch?

I am very much the same with my little stash of silver glass, not giving advice on the how tos here, but I pull mine into stringer and use these to play with then if it goes wrong I haven't wasted much and it lets me work out whats the best way to treat them.
Maybe search each glass separately as I think they all tend to be a bit different and then have a go one at a time. there's loads of info on clio especially, still not brave enough to try my one rod though...I am a glass woose!  ::)

I am on a minor dual fuel I'll pull a couple of stringers and see what that does!!

Lush!

Triton stringer over transparent turquoise is always lovely!

Clio is absolutely my favourite silver glass in the world and it is pretty easy to get the most amazing purples and pinks from it.

Make a small bead, cool really well, almost until the glass is on the point of cracking, and then reheat gently in a neutral flame.   Cool once more and then reduce very very lightly - if you over-reduce clio it goes murky - and then keeping the bead out of the flame, go back to a neutral flame and encase with clear.  Photo below of what it can do when you ask it nicely - the base of this bead is Clio.

Rachel it would be a miracle if that came out of my kiln!!!
Julie,
I have transparent turq, I'll give that a go as well!!

Thanks Ladies. I just wanted a bit of a heads up, I have a dozen beads in the kiln so fingers crossed I get something even wrote it down!!
