CIM crocus

Any advice on this one? I just bought some from Martin yesterday at Farnham, should I do anything special? I sometimes have cracking issues if I combine cirrus/ halong bay etc with other glass and I believe they need annealing a bit hotter, is that right? I had a little look at the table on the wiki and there's two annealing schedules, one much hotter (I would need a kiln rack so as to not get marks on the beads with the 555 one!). I anneal at 525 normally.

Do you mean Cirrus in your title? I know Cirrus is tricky - I've not had cracking problems myself at about 520, but then I use a maxine which runs hot anyway - so may be I am actually annealing fractionally higher.

I'm thinking of popping back today to Farnham....it's just toooooo tempting when I live so close. Takes me about 15 minutes to get there.

If you do mean crocus then well done, because you've just bought the bestest colour in the world, apart from all the other bestest colours

Seriously though, it's beautiful glass. I've had no problems with it. I've made frit beads, used it with silver glass and encased it with Lauscha and it's been fine. I've also put beads with it in vermiculite for a batch anneal with no cracking. Love it!

Aw,sorry I missed you!

I do mean crocus! It's gorgeous isn't it? I think the probs I've had with cirrus are the slightly cooler temp.

I just treat crocus like any other CIM or effetre and I haven't had any problems with it.
