This post is absolutely brilliant, I have been Lampworking for a while and i think i am doing alright with the basics, but blowing on glass to bring out the metals how in the name of almighty GOD did someone discover that, but seriously how do you guys know this I have a plethora of books indoors (the lampwork ones) and have read them front to back many times over and did anyone mention blowing on glass my ar5e they did.

I don't know if I should have started a new thread but I have been having problems with encasing silver foil. I have followed the step by step in Passing the Flame (cosmic swirls I think they are called)and all my beads cracked after coming out of the kiln (initially annealed in vermiculite). Can anyone make any suggestions other than getting them in the kiln sooner-not practicle for the type of kiln I have I'm afraid.
Bye the way I did my best at flame annealing and the beads were not pressed.

i think the recommendation is to put encased foil beads in the kiln immediately. I had the same problem with beads with encased silver frit. Unfortunately you might find that if your kiln won't let you do that then you won't be able to make that type of bead successfully

Awwwwwwww and they look so good too. Guess I will have to save up for a bead kiln.
