Madam Steph

What sort of saw do you use for cutting them down?

the hack saw is good, but it will leave raggedy edges so get a standley knife to cut out all the 'burrs'

I have a mitre saw that I bought from B&Q over ten years ago, it was only a tenner and it gives cleaner cuts and straighter edges.

Madam Steph

Thanks, Krysia.

If I go the way of tubing, I will look for a mitre saw.

I'm in two minds atm, as I was looking forward to Maria Louisa's units which she will be bringing to Flame Off.

What to do, what to do?

If I could afford Maria Louisa's unit, I'd personally go for that.  It's rather attractive  ;D  And I take the burrs off by running the blade from an open pair of scissors round, it just takes a couple of seconds to do and leaves a good clean edge.  I'd take my hand off with a stanley knife  :o

Madam Steph

Yes, Sue.
It's lovely, but what I'm thinking of is that I have some open units that I could utilise. I do have a lot of different glass though, and even though the piping is under £6 for 3 metres, once I have accomodated all my different glass/colours, it will still take quite a bit of piping, so I'm going to have to do my maths.

ok trade, I'll give you the link to the B&Q thingy I bought for the link to this Maria Louisa storage.

I bought some G clamps from wilkinsons to hold the thing onto the stool that I use and tada!  I know it seems silly to dish out the money for a proper saw but lets face it, in 6 months time you are going to need more glass storage and therefore you are going to need to cut up more pipe, so this is a long term investment.
