opal rose - not striking

I haven't used this in a while, and I'm having trouble getting this to strike - any tips appreciated!

is it a true opal rose , there is alweays a confusion over this glass

It should be - it's 532 opal rose - looks white but strikes pink.

                  it was always meant to strike pink when i used it , there was a problem that if you heated to hot then you could get black marks running through it but i loved the pink when it came through .

I've used it on a hothead and not had a problem getting it to strike - it just did it itself as I worked it normally. I kept it fairly cool so it wouldn't go black.

I think the last time I used it I was on a hot head - perhaps a little less heat is required!

I am pleased you asked this one, I have the same problem. Mine came from martin as opal rose so I am sure it is but I can't get a consistant colour. I read some where it needs to be oxygen rich ( perhaps Off Mandrel) so I always take mine right to the end of the flame and turn the propane down. Having said that the pink still varies in intensity.

If you want a decent pink try the Reichenbach opal raspberry. Lovely stuff

Had another go, not so hot and gentle striking! Seemed much better. It's in the kiln so willsee how it turns out!!!
