gold stone

Hi guys, i bought some gold stone from the FO, i put it in a clear stringer
and it came out fine, what i want to know, is it coe free? can i use it in boro?

Nope, it don't like boro! (I tried before I got hold of any colours!) Not as bad as enamel powers which make stringers that look like the worst case of split ends you've ever seen!

If you want the same effect as goldstone gives for boro for some sparkle then have a look at some of the TAG boro that Sean at Off Mandrel has, some of these have really nice sparkles to them

(stardust and leprechan to name a couple) Also Northstar make 'Steel wool' and Glass alchemys version is 'Disco Sparkle' which look 'orriable until mixed or laid over colour and then add a great sparkle, although needs to be used with caution as they warn about cracking issues when put deep down in marbles etc.

don't quote me - but I "think" it's by effetre and is 104 ish .......

That said - I've also used it with Schott glas (91) and used it with bullseye! - but that was thinish stringers not great thick stonking ones!

It's made by Effetre, supposedly 104-ish, but that magician Trudi manages to combine pretty much any old coe's with good results. still, I think even she would be hard-pushed to make this stick to boro!

LOL - is that a challenge Sean - pity I don't work with boro, but I bet I could if I made some into powder!!!! ............. there's always a route to try !!! If you get me some more Lotus in I might just give it a shot to see if it can be done!

i also got some of this stuff at flame off, but am unsure of the process of using it. can anyone shed any light on how you get it from rock form into/onto a stringer?

Most people have got their own ways, but I find it's best encased. How I do it is knock off a little chunk (carefully!) , mash a lollypop with clear or even transparent colours, then pop the goldstone on that and fold the clear over it to encase it, then pull into stringers. I am sure there is probably a better method though!
