Silver foil

I have some EBERHARD FABER silver leaf .Can I use this to make silvered ivory or does it have to be sterling silver leaf?

No idea but u have nothing to lose by having a go ( i hope) .....u will tell when u use it if it is any cop...BUT make sure you have good ventilation whether it works or not ;)Silver has rotten fumes that we shouldnt be inhaling. Wait and see what other replies you get in case its an absolute no no!!!!

I think it might be silver coloured leaf rather than the real thing, have you got enough ivory just to give it a go?

It has to be fine silver (999) not sterling silver (925). I think the Eberhard Faber stuff is just silver-coloured. Tuffnell's has the right stuff

The fabhard stuff isn't real silver- it just turns to black ash (guess how I know!). The same can be said for most 'metal leaf' sold alongside polymer clay- I've even had the stores swear to me it was all real metal leaf (this was copper), when actually it was really flammable plastic stuff!

Not the only place - I think most of the lampworking suppliers should have some, and I'm sure there are other places too. Just make sure it says fine silver
