Striking

This is where the glass is reintroduced into the flame after cooling to bring out certain colours. The bead or sculptural piece should be made in the usual way and then removed from the flame and allow to cool. As a general rule of thumb the piece should be allowed to cool until the glow is almost gone. The glass should then be reintroduced into the flame high up (at the top of the flame) and slowly moved towards you. Whilst the glass is being moved down the flame you should be watching for colour changes. Don't reheat the glass to glowing again otherwise you may have to restrike it.

An example of a striking glass is Cirrus from CIM.
