I am having trouble removing kiln wash from my work.  :-[ I have been using fibre paper but even after washing it seems to be leaving a residue behind.

How do I get this off?

Thanks

How hot are you firing Dawn?  - I sometimes have kiln wash sticking in the brush mark grooves, but never had a problem with kiln paper.

Assuming you mean stuck on the back of your work, I soak mine for an hour or so in hot water, sometimes soapy - green pan scrubber.

And if that doesn't shift it, I have a sickle stone, I run the tap and rub the back of the pieces on it.  Usually works.

If fibre paper is sticking to your work I think you are probably firing too hot. Try bringing the temperature down but increase the soak time.

Sometimes it can be the glass, some of the bullseye opaques are really bad for sticking but I have not had any problems when using the fibre paper.

Thanks everyone - problem solved - I was using kiln wash but have now gone back to using fibre paper and it is not sticking at all.
