millefiori

Just wondered if anyone has used millefiori with bullseye - I'd like to add little 'flowers' etc as decoration but don't know anything about how they might react with bullseye.
If yes, I can use them, anyone know where I can get some? Other than ebay where some of the glass advertisers don't seem to know what they've got in terms of coe advice etc.

I assume it'd be fine so long as you used coe 90 millefiore. As a starting point Warm Glass definitely stock it but it looks quite expensive...

For Bullseye you definitely have to use 90COE. I saw the results of someone using 104COE millefiori on Bullseye and there were compatibility cracks all round the flowers.

I've tried making some myself using Bullseye rods and a tutorial that came with the tools I've got but I need to work on the colour choice better.

I know that there are several people on the forum who make and sell millefiori in 104COE so maybe one of them might like to make some in 90COE (Hint Hint).

I've fused effertre murano 104 with some reasonable results.
Suggest to call creative glass shop in Rochester, where I got my effetre.

They helped me put togethera rough firing schedule for it, which I can post if you decide to use 104coe.

Also try Mosaic Trader, they do loads of mille & sell the effetre. Be warned though I found it very hard to cut. Poory made and very brittle.

I've used the stuff from warm glass and it's fine.  Not cheap, so I use sparingly and it's very effective. A couple of bits on a coaster or in a fused pendant look great.

I make and use coe90 murrini and millefiori and I've done quite a bit of experimenting with them.  I've written a blog post about it, but in case you don't want to read it, it basically boils down to the fact that the design you see in the cold chip can distort quite a lot during firing, so you tend to lose detailed flower shapes if they're used on the surface.  You can get around the distortion in a variety of ways which I discuss in the post.
