I just saw this in the Garage on LE

Does anyone here make them? Or know where to buy them in the U.K. as I am drooling and I must must have one!  ;D

Graeme just said 'yeah, ok' so I don't suppose they are that tricky to make. Mind you, his dad's a carpenter.

How about this for a completely recycled bead stand :)
Ok it needs a bit of work but I usually throw the stands out as I only use the knives that come on them.
The wire is bent mandrels so can be any length. I'm thinking of drilling holes for more mandrel bits just offset a bit. Then just need to cover the gap in the handle now where I took off the knife hanger shelf thingy (sorry about the technical blurb :D)

It looks exactly like my kitchen roll holder!
What a good idea.
And to think I was actually in the charity shop this morning dropping off some old clothes! I could have looked for another one.

I feel a Sunday car boot morning rummage coming on, weather permitting!

;D

I have actually used them as toilet roll and kitchen roll holders and for necklace holders while I'm making up necklaces as all the handles screw together. I hate throwing things away but I'm at a loss what else to use them for - polite answers only required  ::)

Jeribeads on the "New York suppliers" thread have the acrylic bead stands, just in case anyone is still looking as Rocio have run out.

Everything looks good to me.Good Design.
Good luck at your upcoming ideas! I hope all your hard work pays off...I think your displays will really stand out! It is such a great use of a natural material and it does "elevate" the piece, both in the rich appearance and the height, giving much more interest to a table display! Great Job!

Going back to the abacus idea, I have just got an Ikea child's abacus to pull apart and redo as a bead rack.

Trouble is it's obviously quite well made, they don't want you to able to break it and swallow the beads!

This is such an ancient thread ???

Can I just say that although I was quite pleased with my recycled 'bead stand' I have now bought one of Manda's and I love it :D

The abacus is a great idea!  Given that I've often thought of making a posh abacus for my nephew (he's only 3 and I've already got him addicted to glass beads :D ) I can't think why I never thought of using an abacus for bead display!

Lush!

Ooh yeah, love the abacus.  Typical though, when you want Ikea to build it for you they don't, when you wanna pull it apart, ya can't  ;D
