Tomorrow I'm off into town to buy some copper wire from an ironmongers. I've rung them up and they have told me the wire is anti-tarnish. The question is, will I be able to do anything to it to get an aged finish? Not sure I want the bright finish all the time.

You can remove the coating by burning it off, or by running the wire fairly vigorously through a sheet of micromesh or wet an dry paper. If it's just for shaping practice, though, it's probably just as easy to leave it as is!
