I know I should test this myeslf but the sizzle sticks are so darn expensive, I should also probably know the answer but just wanted to check.... ::)

Can I apply the 5% rule to Bullseye 90 COE sizzle sticks and effetre?

Has anyone actually tried it?

Cheers muchly.

I wouldn't! You'll just get cracks. I speak from experience! Thought I picked up schott clear but alas it must have been 006 because my beautiful bead died a death!

Tried it and failed Kate, even the tiniest of amounts made my beads crack like crazy paving.

Very pleased I asked now, cheers ladies  :)

No bullseye clear though  :'( that's why I was tempted  ::)

Trudi

I have used the very thin bullseye in effetre - but it was tiny.

I have some schott if you want to try!

I have always had problems mixing any kind of bullseye with effetre........booo

What about Uroboros dichro sticks? (COE96)  I have like 1 left from a workshop I took ages ago.

or the dichro on copper, I have this and a little goes a long way, non COE specific.

Ahh - thanks Trudy. I took a look at those and decided they were way to expensive. Better to buy sheet bullseye dicro and cut it into strips, you can then make them as wide as you need.

Kate - why not try some bullseye rods? I use coe 104 for testers but switch to bullseye or plowden 90 for final pieces.

I got some 104 coe dicro sticks from Tufnells a while back but the results were dissapointing. When the stick was wrapped around a bead it tends to form a trough. To get anything decent clear has to be run down either side to flatten out the shiny side.

I've used Dichro Slide, I think that's what Kay was talking about, it's the coating by itself rather than on a glass with the associated COE problems.  It's relatively new so probably still quite costly but you can cut out shapes and all sorts!

I've tried this so many times but I've never been happy with the results, I've encased it, pulled stringers and it's always scummy/not what I wanted. I thought I'd spend the extra money and hopefully get some saleable beads out of it with the sizzle stix. I thought I had some bullseye, in fact I know I have but it's got mixed up with some effetre 004.....doh!!

Thanks for the offers peeps but it's ok really I'll order myself some more bullseye  :) but thank you  :-*  :-*
