For ages now ive wondered how you get a thick band/stripe round the belly of a bead
ive tried with a thick and a thin rod, but its always uneven edges  ::)
how do you get it on neatly  ???

I do it by making 3  discs close together and then gently heating them into one, but even then they sometimes get wonky. I don't know how else to do it as my stringer control is non existant.

Kay (Hollergrafik) told me a great tip that if you make a barrel out of one colour (eg: white) then put cylinders of another colour on each end (so you bead looks like a dumbell), then heat it, then the dumbell end bits spread and you get a nice thin line of your barrel colour in the middle.  I'm wondering if the fat band you've seen is done in a similar way.....

mmm suppose i can give that a try
ive asked the question on LE see what they suggest  ;)

I do it with thick stringer which I usually straighten up using tweezers.
