I have been reading through the ventilation threads after being prompted by the recent thread by Krysia.

I think I have my head around most of the maths and details but am getting confused regarding the amount of space I need to ventilate.

My workshop is 23ft x 15ft x 10ft high which is 3450 cubic feet.
However, the space in which I have my torch set up is approximately 6ft x 4ft x 10ft which is 240 cubic feet.

There is no divider and my torch setup is just in the corner of my workshop so how much air do I need to displace... is it the entire workshop, just the area in which I use my torch or something inbetween?

Dragonfire Glass

I would say that if your extraction is efficient, it shouldn't need to displace the entire workshop, just the area around your torch.
I'm sure someone will be along to disagree if I'm wrong  :)

The space round the torch was my thinking too.  I am thinking about getting some perspex too, to enclose my space a little more, but this is more because of flying glass and doing this inside the home.  (no garden, therefore no shed!)

;D

Sheila at Torchbugs has put pics of her new studio here - http://www.torchbugs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2295.
She includes a link to the details of how she made it, what tools she used and what materials.
She has the perspex enclosed sides on her torch table.
I checked that out today and the suppliers also have polycarbonate sheet which is more expensive but has a higher fire safety rating. . .

polycarbonate - kewl, have you found anywhere good to get this from?

I am watching this thread closely too.  Many thanks for keep posting your findings x

Humm... I have been looking at

http://www.propertyplastics.co.uk/product/16mm_polycarbonate_/

It doesn't seem very easy to look through.  Iam I looking at the wrong thing?

Krysia - the link I found is
http://www.365plastics.ie/polycarbonate-clear-sheet-standard.html?&cat=0
and I think it's in Ireland.
They will cut it to size for you also.
I think I just did a search for acrylic sheet and as I looked at the site I found that the polycarbonate had a higher rating for heat.
