Cabochons

I know ive spelt that wrong but can any one give me hints on how to turn beads into cabochons please .
i need to make some for college for some of my stone setting projects .thanks xxcatxx

Martin sells a mandrel that can be used for making cabochons it has a big round disk on top

what about fusing some,
