If there is a difference between an SC2 with a sentry xpress 2.0 controller and one with a sentry xpress 4.0

I've been offered a kiln that has a 2.0 controller since all the paragon kilns I can find online have the 4.0 controller is it just a case of a slightly older controller or is there some huge difference that will stop me garaging with it.

HELP! I'm off to look at it on Sunday, i'm reading through the manuals but thought it would be easier to shout out here and see if anyone had any ideas.

Lee I'm looking at you.

This looks to be the right manual, and it seems to do 4 segments in  a program - which would be enough for garaging http://www.paragonweb.com/files/manuals/IM202.pdf
There's an example program on the back page.
I have the 4.0 controller and that does 8 segments, but I don't think that I ever use more than  4 segments. But looking at the manual for the 2.0, I can't see if you can save the program, and I can't see how many programs you can save (the 4.0 controller lets you save 4 programs). It would be a bit of a pain if you had to enter the program each time - but it depends how cheap the kiln is!
Hope this helps!

Thanks this was the only bit bugging me, I'll have a good read through the manual before I go to see it on Sunday.

4 segments sounds fine and if I have to reprogramme each time it's worth it for being able to have a bead door. I've only got a mini kiln at the moment and you can't even program different segments into that.
Edit - just had a quick read though and nothing about saving but it does mention you can restore the last used programme which since I should only be using one I'll be fine. -
I really, really can't say how much it is. People will kill me if they find out.

Thank you so much xx

Good luck Scarlet. It sounds a bargain! Hope it does what you need. Fingers crossed. X

I have a kiln with the old 2.0 controller and its fine, seems to remember 4 different programs. Good luck, hope its a good kiln, its not too much different to the 4.0

Thanks Glenn.
That's all I needed to hear, someone had one and used it.

I certainly don't need to be able to programme in multiple schedules. And I suppose if I ever feel the need I can always buy a different controller.
