ok,
I have read the older post on this rod, I have tried a variety of ways, cooling quickly, blowing, marvering, reducing flame (put silver foil collar round HH, works a treat)
All I have got thus far is;
complete silver bead
complete blue silver bead
Snot coloured bead
snot coloured bead with red dot!, oh dear not nice, poor thing
greenish silverish bead

would it fare to say, I'm just not going to get on with this one? I can't think of any other way of treating it.
all hints welcome, I'm probably missing something?

I always find that raku frit gives more interesting results than the rod, unless it's pulled into stringers, and also that 96 coe is better than the 104.
With a hothead I used to get good results making a small black cylinder base, get it hot and roll in raku frit. Heat enough to reshape the cylinder and then encase with nice hot gloopy clear.  The clear helps to strike the raku.

Quick post and run, sorry. I did a forum wide search for Iris orange and found this http://www.frit-happens.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11294.0

Hope it helps, Jo
