My oxycon keeps overheating.

My oxycon keeps overheating. I am working in my shed which is cold at the moment. I have only had my oxycon since mid January, sometimes the orange light comes on and then goes off. Now the red light will come on and it overheats. This is after about 2 hours at the torch. Anyone had similar problems?

It sounds as if it could be faulty, and it sounds as if it is still new, I would contact the person you bought it off and see if you can replace it while it is still under some sort of warranty

I bought it from Off mandrel but it was supplied by Tuffnells.

have you contacted them? they are both very helpful, I had a problem when I first got mine and Martin sorted out straight away , luckily it could be done over the phone

Martin will sort it out for you, I have to say that mine has been playing up this winter and I don't use it very much - only twice in the last two months, it just hates this weather.......

Oxycons HATE the damp...it can be fatal 

So I bring mine in from the studio; keep it in the dining room and give the filter a hoover every now and then.

The fan is either buggered or has lost it's connection. Open it up (opens right down the middle - but make sure you unscrew the retaining screws first.)  Dont' know what model you have but you should look for a  a square black fan - about 5inches across. They usually have bayonet type connectors. It may have worked its way loose so make sure it is pushed right in. If it is and it's not working you will need a new fan.
