Oxycon Advice

Hi guys,

I've been knee deep in forum trying to find the answers but have got more confused...

I'm researching equipping my studio with one or two torches, which a friend is kindly handling in the states, but I need to get the oxycon situation sorted.  Can peeps tell me the size of these things and what the options are for getting one or two in the UK?  I know Tuffnells does one type, but is that it?  I don't want to get a brand new one, it's more the option to save space with a choice of sizes that I'm after as I'm starting to need to hoist things from the ceiling!

Hi Rachel

I have two - one from Martin and one from Quinton at Glassworks in Belgium. Quinton's are slightly thinner & taller but not really any different in size overall. Sean & Gillian also sell them at Off Mandrel in Glasgow - but I'm not sure which model.

As far as I can tell they are all 5lpm - if anyone knows of anywhere that sells reconditioned 10 lpm oxycons in Europe (or is willing to ship them here) then I'd love to know too

Mine do fit comfortably under my table, and did when it was an old kitchen table (to give you an idea of height). Q did have a couple of models, might be worth asking him. If you're willing to spend, there's a company up here in Aberdeenshire does newer models and more powerful ones, but they are not cheap.

Thanks guys, if anyone has a tape measure spare, I would love some measurements as it has to fit either under my lightbox bench or I'll have to build another workbench for it...  Anyone on facebook will have seen my heath robinson style studio!

Mary - Can you PM or email details of the Aberdeenshire company as it would be good to get an idea of prices?

My oxycon measures 25" tall, by 15" deep, by 12" wide. I know there are different models around so you'll need to take that into account.
