Murrini

Ok... So, following Bev's wonderful tutorial in this months Bead & Beyond, I've made myself some murrini - very proud of myself too! Only forgot one thing... I've made this pretty stripy cane... And pulled the puntys off (can see the flower and everything!)... But I don't know what to cut it with! Will sharp wire cutters do it, or do I need something special?

Wow Lucy that is pretty. You can use rod nips (they look like big pliers but have a metal disk on each side) or I sometimes use nips that were originally for mosaic tiles to cut bits from the end of a rod

Or if you don't want to cut it, just heat the spot on the bead where you want it and push the end of  the rod  in and then cut it off with nips, you still have to cut but its easier to apply I find

That's lovely! I found Sarah Horniks tip handy, once you have pushed the murrini onto the bead, put a dot of clear on top to keep it looking good.. well, it worked for me anyway!

Really impressed with that - something that is on my list to try to learn how to do (when I have my next lesson!)
