I have been asked to make a fused glass memorial piece and just wondered if anyone has any experience of this? My concern is that the ashes would burn away when fired.

Thanks x

They won't burn away. They may produce bubbles though - which can be quite nice - but with a fused piece you won't have a lot of control over that. Hope this helps?

You can control the bubbles to some extent. If you are trapping them between two layers of glass as I suspect you will, then put tiny glass chips at each corner of the lower piece of glass and then rest the second one on top. This will provide enough flow so a lot of the organic stuff that is left can burn off and the glass will slump from the middle out to the edges thus trapping the ashes and squeezing out bubbles as it goes.

If you try it, let us know how you get on!

Thanks - still feeling a bit scared - any chance I could sent then in your direction - Sal & Tan? x

Sorry - only just seen this - yes, of course you can. But, I don't really do much fusing. If they wanted lampwork only then I can happily do it.

Your best bet is Sal, she is the pro when it comes to memorial beads.
