Flashback problems

Nearly had a massive paddy this evening.

Took my whole kit apart, reg, arrester and poked about with the hosing scratching head and getting mad.

Turns out it was the flashback arrester that must of been dodgy, gave it a whack on the concrete and it seemed to work after that.

Is this a common thing to happen?   Tank and hosing is kept outside under a black bin liner so no water can enter. And the flashback is the one from Tuffnels which I think is about 4 years old?

I'm going to buy another flashback to be on the safe side though.
