Maxi or SC2?

Hi, I'm after my first kiln.  I'd like to use it for beads but also silver clay and possibly some small bits of fusing.  Suggestions and comments please....  I know you all have your favourites so tell me why.

I love my SC2 and use it for all the things you mention. I haven't used a Maxi so I can't offer you a comparison.

I believe you can't fuse or fire metal clay in a maxi - which might make the decision a little easier!

You're right George, well certainly on the fusing point - IIRC the Maxi only goes to about 650 C, and you need a kiln that would go to about 850 for fusing (Bullseye fuses around 800, but float is higher) - can't speak for metal clay though.

The Maxi is the larger comparable more to the bluebird rather than the SC2.
I'm pretty sure that you can't fuse or fire metal clay either (it only has a max temp of 650c)

The SC2 has a max temp of 1093c so everything is achievable and internally it is also larger than the beadcube (kilncares other kiln that is capable of small fused pieces and metal clay.)

I think the SC2 is probably the better choice given that you want to do a bit of everything since you will probably want to try to do more when you realise that it's another thing that's quite fun and need that extra bit of space.

How much space do you have to site it?  I have an SC2, thought the Bead Cube a bit small internally - a friend does some fusing in it - and hadn't room for the Maxi.  Space eliminated others before I even got as far as whether the others would fire high enough.  I'm delighted with my SC2.

Yup, just to confirm, the MAXI is only and was only ever designed to be a bead / lamp work kiln. The SC2 is a genuine all rounder and the better choice for you here my friend.
