Title: Problems finding Mapp gas in Edinburgh
Post by: amber0307 on March 18, 2008, 09:52:07 PM
Does anyone know if Screwfix Direct sell Mapp gas?  I can't find any in my local B & Q.

Or does anywhere else do? :)

They don't anymore.  Do you have a Plumb Centre close to you?  They may.

They do a 'Roth' Mapp Gas Cylinder - would I be able to use that?  It's so expensive!

Thanks

Try searching for Mapp gas on Froogle (Google products) - I used to use Hamilton gas http://www.gasproducts.co.uk (http://www.gasproducts.co.uk) (its listed under gas products) who I found this way.

Yay I found some!

In case anyone else local to my area is hunting, the best place is Pipeline Centre at Bankhead Crosscauseway - they sell it for £10.90 a canister :)

Off to get some this weekend!  Spent my bulk setup money on glass lol so it will be another month or so before I go onto propane.

Hi
Thanks

The kit is a bit expensive. I have managed to find all the parts at my local calor gas supplier for around £40, just need to find a gas bottle so I don't need to pay for one.

have you tried Freecycle Nikki?  just google it and join the one for your area.. I was offered 2 bottles on mine !  Took it to my calor place and I didn't have to pay a bottle deposit  :D
