Title: How to fuse with gold/silver lettering
Post by: Flowers on March 01, 2021, 01:51:29 PM
Hi I hope you are all well.
I often see beautiful plates and dishes with gold and/or silver writing fused on or into them
I would love to have a try and saw one advertised recently on Etsy where they say they use 23K gold lettering.  How is this done?  Where does one buy such a thing? If anyone could shed some light on the technique, what sort of gold and silver is used and where to purchase such products that would be super 🙂
Many thanks

Warm Glass sell a gold pen, but it's quite expensive.

I can't find it there now, either, sorry. Try Bath Potters, they do a metallic lustre. The gold one should be fired  last, at 500-600 C.  You use a paintbrush. Hope that helps.

I've seen something on you tube where 24k gold liquid is put in a little cup thing attached to a pen type holder with a fine nib for writing. I think it's mostly used by potters.  I'll see if I can find it again.
