My OH has a bottle cutting device that takes 5 mins to cut the neck off a wine bottle (he uses them for slide guitar playing).

Apparently there's a quick way using string, nail polish remover, and fire. Looks easy enough but I haven't tried it!
Thought it was rather elegant, if you have a lathe. After all, there's only so many turned things you can impose on family and friends...
