Canyon de Chelley  with Effetre Nero Intenso, then superheated for lace effect (but didn't want to do neat lace, it wanted to bleed and change colour!

Okay - two more from your self-nominated Lace Effect tester:

Ignore the one on the left, that's Effetre, but the one on the right is Larkspur with Eff Nero Intenso - no lace

And this, would you believe it, is Rose quartz & Eff Nero Intenso. Webbing, yes, but no proper well-defined lace, also lots of bleed and the base lost its pink. I now really want to know exactly what makes some glass do the lace thing and not others - I haven't yet found a CiM that does!!!

Wow, gorgeous bead, Anouk! I ordered some crocus too, can´t wait!

This one is black (might be Hades or Efftere black) with wigwag decoration. Wigwag and other decoration is made of Hades, Pumpkin, Celadon and Elphaba. I like a lot the way CIM colours act when made to wigwags or lattucino. When put to bead, they stay in their place and do not spread.

Here are some test beads I have made from CiM. They are not tecnically very good, but the target was to test colours. These are Peace encased rather heavily with said colour. Stringers are also Peace encased with said colour. Colours are from left to right: Rose Quartz, Pink Champagne, Dusk and Sepia. Pink Champagne got brownish tint in a flame and Dusk, which is kind of blueish/lavender gray in a rod became more neutral gray. Nice colours anyway. I think Dusk is one of uniques.

Another set. Beads are made same way that in a previous message, encasing is just lighter (and I encased Cranberry with clear to keep it lighter in flame), because the colours are stronger and more saturated. Colours from left to right: Sangre (my new favourite red!), Cranberry Pink, Simply Berry and Sapphire.

Thanks Les - still a couple more!

The darker is Bordello. I started to think it is actually quite nice dark choklit brown, it is only that I was expecting something else... Then I got idea to mix it with Efftre light brown transparent (018 is it?), because I have looked after nice transparent brown, which is not amber, but more...Brown I guess! The darker one is just Bordello over Peace (it is darker in person than in a picture) and lighter is lightbrown-bordello mix in a ratio about 4:1.

It is Electric Blue with decoration. Wigwag is made with Pumpkin, Celadon and Elphaba over Peace over clear. There is a brownish rection in a pumpkin, I just do not know with what it have reacted...

Has anybody else noticed this phenomenon with CIM Plum - it kind of "devitrifies"

I know I have posted these on the S&T but these are all made from Cim.

The first is made from Sangria with a band of Ginger and SIS, and is finished with Clear dots.

I love these, they are made from efettre Slate Grey and a band of Leaky Pen and SIS, and finished with Slate Grey dots. I just love the subtle way the Leaky Pen has seemed to take over the Slate grey.

This next set is made from Plum and a band of Desert Pink & SIS and finished with Larkspur dots. The Desert Pink has nearly been gobbled up by the Plum.

The last set is Larkspur and a band of Grape Ape & SIS finished with Larkspur dots, I was really chuffed with the Larkspur I think the colour is lovely and totally different to the rod. I did find it had bubbles in the rod though.

I have listed these on my site now :)

Absolutely stunning beads and reactions on here, lovely stuff.

Thought it was about time I entered this comp.

First one - Antique Green with dichroic inside.

Second one- my favourite glass Stone Ground, I just love this stuff, with silver foil, palladium and dark iris gold frit. oh and silver dots.

Third one is Stone ground, silver foil and antique green.

Last one is stone ground again, but I have noticed if you work it hot and use a reduction flame during the process then you get this gorgeous orangey colour, I love it. I have added silver leaf and reduction frit and a filigrano made with ivory and clear.

I've got to start somewhere...

This is the first photo of one of my beads that I've posted. Nothing exciting in terms of style but I was intrigued by the colour of the bead as it is the first I've made with CiM glass having been inspired to get some by this very competition.

Canyon de Chelly, made on a HotHead torch, not annealed.

I seem to have lost all the lovely sparkle from the outside of the rod to a silvery band at the centre of the bead - is that normal?

Only one of these beads is made with CiM glass...

Thai Orchid, made on a HotHead torch, not annealed. The black is Effetre. Both decorated with silvered Effetre ivory stringer. I think these look better at this size than they do in real life!

My turn!

I used:
CIM: Celadon, Ghee, Creamsicle, Elphaba   Vetrofond: Light Topaz
Effretre: Biege transparent,  Dichroic strip, SIS (From Effretre Ivory) and a goldstone Effretre encased stringer

Don't ask me what it is though!  We're calling it a Stegosaurus bead! ;D
Title: Re: CiM "show and do tell" Competition
Post by: Shadowdarner on February 07, 2009, 03:28:22 PM
...and another one

CIM: Elphaba, Creamsicle     Vetrofond: Lt. Green Trans, Dk. Aqua Trans.     Effretre: Lt. Ivory and Crystal Clear

I'm more happy with the little 'sea fans' in the large clear dots on this one! It Can't be a 'Stegosaurus' though!

Here are a few more...

CIM: Butter Pecan, Simply Berry, Sepia and clear

Effetre dicro strip

Twistie is made from Butter Pecan, Simply Berry, Sepia and Effretre lt. Ivory....The reaction wasn't at all expected but I think if I would have 'wound' it tighter it would look like a trilobite or shell...

CIM: Ghee, Celadon and clear

Effetre: Opal yellow and Copper green

Wow! Ghee has so many different personalities depending on what glass you pair it with and how hot you work it!  Don't ask me what I did to get the topaz color.....maybe someone can tell me since this is the first time I've worked with CIM.

I love those beads Heather - I've been admiring them and wondering if they were stoneground  :) I've fallen in love with it too - these are stoneground, wasabi & brick red with SIS. The reddish tinge in some of the beads is from the brick red -  there are some very pale blue & a pinkish tinges coming from the SIS where it is just with stoneground.

I'm a bit disappointed with this bead  as I managed to scorch the effetra clear I encased it in whilst trying to swirl it.
Inside the glass is Dirty Martini with stripes of Glacier and Electric Avenue and it has been etched.
Down the centre of the Dirty Martini is a slim stripe of green lustre frit pulled into an encased stringer.
I will be trying to make another of these hopefully without the scorching.

Clockwork orange. The large bead has pumpkin dots and seems to have struck to a deeper colour. I guess because it was worked more?

Khaki and triton.
The Khaki seems to react much more than the canyon de chelly to the dh glass.

Thats my hog over for the moment!

I have learnt a lot about taking photos and posting them doing this.
lots of fun! thanks.
I hope you all enjoy the results. I know I still have a lot to learn.

I thought you might all like to see this one as well.
Its lipstick with a twistie of lipstick and stoneground melted in. Then I shaped it in my brass doming block and the stoneground bit went all rainbow colours. I have tried several photos of this one and this is the best I could get that shows the rainbow effect.
Very pretty. Is this raku? I have never managed to do raku before.
This bead hasn't been annealed yet so I don't know if it will change in the kiln.
Also, you can just see in the picture how the lipstick in the twistie is more brown than in the base colour of the bead, a reaction with the stoneground I guess.
Worth playing with this combination a bit more I think!

Good luck everyone in the competition.

I think I managed to keep the colour this time, sometimes it's gone a bit milky

Ingrid, I love your little 'cauldron' bead!  That's so cool!

More chalcedony - pillows, this time.  A girl can only practise so many rounds....

The small bead on the right went a bit milky - did I overheat it?

Here is the reaction I got from pure Creamsicle with the tiniest thin line of Aurae. I have included the actual creamsicle rod that I made the bead with. Neat, huh?

This bead is a bit rubbish, but it is CiM Poi with a thin line of Aurae and encased. The Poi went really dark, and where the Aurae hit it it went really turqoise with a stunning shimmer. The piture really doesn't do the reaction justice!

(CLICK ON THE IMAGES FOR A CLOSER LOOK!)

I had a similar reaction with Plum and Evil Queen.
