I got a second hand hot head torch some years ago, but have only just gotten round to connecting it to a Mapp type propane cylinder to test it, as I would like to do demos at craft fairs.
When I turn it on, it seems to blow the flame out, as though the proportion of air is too high to stay lit. I covered the intake holes with foil, and got a giant yellow flame, which blew out as soon as I uncovered them.
I've had a quick google but can't find much help apart from mention of people cleaning theirs with either hot soapy water or spirits, and a photo of an 'orifice' between the bent pipe & head which can apparently be changed - I can see where mine is but it doesn't come out.
Any ideas?
Not sure, but when I first had a hot head I initially couldn't get it lit either and it would just blow out. Turned out that I was being too cautious with it and not turning it up high enough, as soon as I opened the tap a bit more when lighting it everything was fine.
