I made poppies using Effetre medium red, they were a perfect colour. I got a new batch but this is much darker, in fact its just like I thought medium red was so I must have had a nice bright batch in between. I need something thats nice and bright, opaque and doesnt do the black streaky bit, streaky is ok just so long as its not murky! I tried CIM poppy but its too orange and transparent, Reichenbach lipstick is nice but again a bit on the transparent side. Any suggestions on what I could try?

Have a look at my charts sorted by colour: http://www.facet-design.com/wp/kleuren/rood/ (http://www.facet-design.com/wp/kleuren/rood/)
Effetre light red.
But I have to say that Effetre are getting really really bad with their batches. So many colours are coming out so different ... not happy
Bullseye (90) tomato red, Effetre light red, or Reichenbach strawberry are possibilities
I use the deep red effetre for mine, should be a pic on my face book page (lynniebeads)

Keep in mind that the reds, oranges and yellows are striking colours. Sometimes they did strike already just before pulling into rods. And some are not possible to unstrike so they will only get darker.
Thank you everyone
I have now tried strawberry and lipstick, both lovely but a wee bit transparent in my eeny weeny studs. I got some Effetre light red but although its lighter in the rod there is little difference between it an effetre medium red in the finished poppies. It may be because of the tiny size I'm making but I was using effetre medium red, maybe an old batch but it was perfect, my tiny poppy studs are about 5-7 mm across, it works ok in the medium ones about 10-12mm but the smaller ones are dark. Will rob some of Hubbys tomato red bullseye!
Reds.. mind of their own!
Oranges have a mind of their own too. I have a rod labelled striking orange, and it comes up as a really nice red with me. Miriam's point about them getting darker with working is also true - when I make a mixture of full size beads and spacers off the same rod, they always look different.
Maybe because I need to make 3mm stringers first, its already struck before I start using. Have been trying to get skinny red! Tried the bullseye. it was ok in the tiny ones but went brownish when I prepared petals and added then on for the bigger ones. I have some skinny lipstick so I will give that a go also loads of poppy but prefer proper opaque. Anyone tried Lauscha red?
The absolute truest opaque red I have found is the Kugler 104 coral red (069). Unfortunately they don't manufacture anymore, but if you look around there might be a few places that still stock it. I can send you a couple of rods if you want - I'm afraid i'm too fond of this glass to sell more! ;)
