Title: Help with finding colours with copper please.
Post by: powerjen on May 03, 2016, 07:43:17 AM
Hi, I've just started out in copper electroforming.  But I am slightly unsure what findings to use with the electroformed items I'm making.  I've found some antique copper ear wires and other steel based findings which would fit the bill but I'm not sure these are hypoallergenic and my first preference just cause it sounds more professional and warrants a bigger price tag is sterling silver (I don't think my work justifies solid gold!).  But I'm not sure that the bright copper goes with silver and nor does an antique bronze look that you get with using liver of sulphur... I'm a bit stuck as to what to do.

So my question is what do others use for findings to match copper pieces? Either as ear wires or necklaces? I have copper chokers which are nice but I'm guessing having not used them before that they will turn someone's neck green?  Thanks for any advice you can give!

Some time ago I got some lovely ear wires from George. There were some in copper but also some in a more exotic metal that was hypoallergenic and available in different colours including copper.

I have had copper finish earwires from EJR beads and some niobium ones too. For necklaces I either just use suede or leather cord and leave the customer to knot it or copper bead chain.
I would love to try copper electroforming!
