Ok, I'm officially hooked, its handy to bring along to fairs so I'm doing something in between but so far just the very basic braid pattern that came with the disc.
I have now been asked if I can create a bracelet with horse hair (well why not ;D) and would like to do something a bit more ornate like the round plaited leather cord shape and will need a jolly good practice first before I try the hair!
Been looking on Amazon, there are way too many books on this topic to choose from so I just wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Have a look at https://www.careycompany.com/jacqui-carey I have a couple of her books but can't lay my hands on them at the moment. See if you can order from your local library first before buying. Kumihimo is great for pendants rather than using chain as you can colour coordinate.
Big book of sling and rope braids by Rodrick Owen is the best and the only one I kept. Jacqui Carey's books are OK, but when I last looked, Owen's was more comprehensive. I got quite into this years ago, a friend and I made and sold kits long before the world thought of it.
If you get seriously hooked, after Christmas (when life gets quieter) I'll have a wooden marudai and tons of silk threads for sale.

Ooh yes please! Using just the nylon at present but want proper silk and quality materials when I am more proficient, after Christmas sounds very good!. Off to look at this book too and thank you

I have seen several of your cords on here that started me off thinking! Off to look at this book, not so good with library books, hate giving them back but good to get a feel for liking or not. Thank you!
Jacqui Carey is very good. A friend gave me one of her books (Beads and Braiding, I think), and I found she lives in the next village to me! I went to see her, and bought some of the stuff. Must get back to doing some, thanks for reminding me.

On impulse last week I bought Twist, Turn and Tie, 50 Japanese Braids by Beth Kemp. I think it is great for beginners like me.
Thank you for the info everyone! I've also bought some kumihimo discs as I've been wanting to make cords for necklaces.
Check out prumihimo.com
Pru has loads of free tuts, is a guest designer on jewellery maker tv and uploads all the projects she does for them to her site too
Thanks for that link Kat. It looks an excellent site. I'm particularly taken with the cabochon settings.

I agree, what a fab site!

You're very welcome, we go back a few years and it never ceases to amaze me how she keeps coming up with new things. She co-mods the fb group 'kumihimo' if you'd like to come join :)
