Title: 6mm or two 3mm
Post by: anditsinthefish on October 11, 2014, 10:21:28 PM
I have been using two sheets of 3mm for a number or clear glass projects. I am about to order some more glass and wondered if it's worth getting one sheet of 6mm instead...

How easy is it to cut? Has anyone got any pointers?

Thanks :) Sarah x

It *is* harder to cut, but do-able.  I struggle with thickness above 8mm, and I've been fusing glass for nine years.

I find straight cuts aren't too bad as you can get a good even pressure all along the length of the score.   Cutting narrow or small bits off gets harder.

In all honesty for the saving, I only tend to use 6mm if I am not planning on cutting it - for the price difference it's not worth it (About 30p more to buy two 30cm 3mm squares than 1 6mm - however buy a pack of ten and it works out cheaper to buy the 3mm.....)

Edited to add - that's on Bullseye Tekta prices, I don't know how much float or other clear glass varies.
